Usage Statistics

Supports resource optimization, strengthens governance through usage audit trails, and enables impact analysis by showing which entities are affected by changes in data flow ..

Usage Statistics

Usage Statistics is a Data Catalog feature that tracks how often database entities are read, written to, or modified in the Business Intelligence Database (BIDB).

Key Benefits:

  • Provides visibility into data consumption patterns

  • Identifies most frequently accessed entities

  • Enables resource optimization and impact analysis

  • Creates audit trails for governance

Database Support:

  • Microsoft SQL & Oracle: Requires database auditing to be manually enabled

  • Snowflake: Works automatically without additional configuration

How It Works: The Entity Usage Worker job collects usage metrics from the audit database and stores them in the Entity Usage Statistic View within the BIDB, where they can be analyzed using third-party BI tools.
