Orders - NA & EMEA
Workshop - NA & EMEA
Real-world business reporting often requires filtering data to specific regions and time periods to support strategic decision-making. In this advanced workshop, you'll create a comprehensive filtered report for Steel Wheels that displays order details for the EMEA and NA territories, focusing on orders shipped on or after January 1st, 2005. This workshop builds on your Interactive Reporting foundation by introducing more sophisticated filtering, grouping, and data presentation techniques.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll expand your Interactive Reporting skills by working with multiple filters, creating hierarchical groupings, and implementing summary calculations at different levels. You'll learn how to construct complex filter conditions that combine date ranges with categorical selections, create nested group structures that reveal patterns across territories and product lines, and format professional reports with custom headers, titles, and calculated totals. You'll also gain experience with column reordering, data formatting, and the repository management skills needed to publish reports for organizational use.
What You'll Accomplish:
Select the Orders data source and apply the Left Aligned - Cobalt report template
Add essential data columns (Product Name, Order Date, Order Number, Status, Quantity Ordered, Total) and reorder them logically
Create hierarchical report groups with Territory as the primary group and Product Line as a subgroup
Apply ascending sort on Order Date to organize records chronologically
Implement multiple filters to display only Shipped orders from EMEA and NA territories on or after January 1, 2005
Add summary calculations (Sum) on the Total column with properly labeled subtotals and grand totals
Customize the report with a descriptive title and company header (Steel Wheels, Inc.)
Format numeric data with appropriate currency symbols and decimal places
Refine column headers and alignment for professional presentation
Save the completed report to the Public/Training repository folder with a descriptive filename
By the end of this workshop, you'll have created a sophisticated business report that demonstrates advanced filtering, multi-level grouping, and summary calculations. You'll understand how to combine temporal and categorical filters to isolate specific data subsets, how to structure hierarchical groupings that reveal business patterns, and how to format reports that meet professional standards for executive consumption.
